Dead elephant found during game drive

By Patrick O’Brien on September 14, 2008

My tracker Albert and I found a dead elephant during game drive.

The cause of death appears to be age related.

The large female elephant was only found 2 days later by the Shobele pride.

No time was wasted in getting nutrients from the carcass. This kind of situation is unique and rarely encountered.

The pride will benefit from the free meal for the next several days to come and it will give the cubs the opportunity to fill their daily requirement.

  2. Patrick!

These pictures are amazing and inspire me to plan to come back soon. The best part is that with these pictures, I feel like I never left! I would love to see this male lion…

    Take care,

    Gail
