Machaton Cubs

By Dean Robinson on July 4, 2013

This morning with the wind blowing, I wasn’t expecting too much on drive. Then suddenly a call on the radio, the lone Machaton lioness and sub-adult male had been found. They led the guide down into the riverbed off Cheetah Plains and her two new cubs made an appearance. For some of the guides this was the first time they had been seen, myself included and as promised here are some photos. They are not great but we don’t want to put too much pressure on her den site so kept our distance. Enjoy.

  1. What a treat to see the new Machaton cubs. It is great to see the Lion population thriving in Timbavati.
