Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw this morning on drive.
Macunjani, our resident male caught a huge female warthog by surprise and managed with a single swipe to knock her rear leg out of under her. In which seemed like a millionth of a second he pounced on her and secured a grip on the throat. During this unpredicted attack, Macunjani had to reposition his grip on the warthog to prevent serious injury to his face and body. In the frantic moment to survive the warthog kicked the male leopard lower body to force a release. But it was to no avail.
Macunjani merely tightened his shattering grip. The warthog screamed and in seconds the leopard managed to silence her.
Just mind blowing to be part of such a one in a lifetime experience and this at Kings Camp in Timbavati.
Thank you for all your postings, they truely convey the Kings Camp experience. Well done!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
We are looking forward to visiting Kings Camp soon!
Another epic encounter! Between Macunjani and the Cheetah kill, you and Albert have been "Johnny on the Spot"!

Todd

ALLAN AND DAWN
I woke up this morning from a dream about King’s Camp and can’t get it out of my mind. My family was so lucky to be able to view this encounter and I’m sure we all still think about it a lot- not to mention the whole King’s Camp experience. Anyway, thanks Patrick and Albert for so many great drives.
