Rockfig and cub

By Patrick O’Brien on November 21, 2008

Rockfig leopardess and Jnr are very well.

This female leopard has no difficulty in providing the necessary nutrients Jnr needs. The cub is growing so quickly and I have no doubt that she will play-hunt in the next few weeks.

The images illustrate mom and daughter up in a tree with no less than 3 hyenas below them waiting for part of the carcass to drop on the ground.

  1. Amazing photos Patrick. You have captured some wonderful moments and interactions. As you know, the Rockfig is my favorite Leopard, since she is the first one I had ever seen in the wild. What a great sighting for you and your guests.

  2. Awesome photos Patrick ,well done. It must be a little more interesting these days with the hyena den near by to see their presence around kills.

  3. Exquisitely captured moments Patrick. You have such a connection to these animals together with your incredible talent as a photographer. It’s a joy to see these pics. I can’t wait till you publish a wildlife book.

  4. Pic #2 is classic. Mother love, so sweet. Wish we were in ZA. Ditto as to what batman wrote, anticipate your wildlife book! 🙂
