The Timbavati Traverse was established in 2021 in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve with one clear goal: to make a meaningful difference to endangered wildlife and the communities surrounding the reserve.
The 2026 Timbavati Traverse will take place on 08 August 2026 and promises to be the most exciting edition yet. Participants can look forward to an ultra-marathon run, a half-marathon run, a half-marathon walk, and, for the first time, a brand-new 80km MTB cycle – all set within this extraordinary wilderness.
Spanning 56,000 hectares of pristine bushveld, the reserve is home to the iconic Big Five and offers exceptional wildlife sightings, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable endurance experience in one of South Africa’s most renowned conservation areas.
Runners, walkers, and cyclists take part to help protect Timbavati’s wildlife and those who safeguard it, while raising funds in support of the Timbavati Foundation, which does vital work for neighbouring rural communities.
