By Kings Camp Team on April 7, 2023

Thinking about a destination bush wedding in South Africa?

Romantic accommodation, a remote wilderness location  and our dedicated team at your service are just a few of the reasons you should choose Kings Camp as your dream destination for a Timbavati wedding venue.

South Africa weddings

The Outdoor Ceremony

The wedding ceremony usually takes place in a dry riverbed near the lodge, although this is entirely up to the bride and groom. Sculpted over millennia by the Nhlaralumi River, surrounded by African bushveld, the location is atmospheric and romantic and there’s always the chance of seeing a herd of elephant crossing the river in the distance.

‘Golden Hour’ Photographs

There are few settings in the world that compare to the South African bushveld at sunset. Not only is the golden light spectacular for photographs, dusk is one of the busiest times of the day to see game – meaning resident wildlife might feature in your ‘golden hour’ photographs.

Cocktail Hour Entertainment

Located in the heart of Mpumalanga, Kings Camp Lodge is surrounded by a wealth of culture and local tradition. An element of this rich heritage can be incorporated into your destination wedding with a performance from a group of traditional Shangaan dancers during or after cocktail hour. The details of your day are entirely at your discretion.

The Bush Reception

Kings Camp as a wedding venue has a stylish, classic safari feel to it and the surrounding wilderness adds the perfect amount of ambiance to the special day. The events team at Kings Camp are renowned for their careful attention to presentation and service when it comes to coordinating your day.

The Romantic Suites

The piece de resistance of a Timbavati wedding at Kings Camp is the breathtaking Honeymoon Suite. The spacious, open-plan design of the air-conditioned Honeymoon Suite offers an intimate and romantic bush escape. Two sets of double doors open onto a private plunge pool and verandah, framing outstanding views of the bush. Recline on a plush armchair or stretch out on the luscious four-poster, king-sized bed, with front row seats to the vibrant bush. Take a look inside.

Built-in Honeymoon Destination

Not only is Kings Camp a fantastic place for a bush wedding, the reserve is a spectacular destination for safari honeymoon. Not only does Kings offer great game viewing and safari activities, but also luxurious spa treatments and private bush dining experiences. You can also combine a stay at Kings with a stay at another luxury lodge nearby for a complete South Africa honeymoon.

Good to know:

South African law requires foreign couples wishing to be married to attend an appointment at the Department of Home Affairs before they can be legally married in South Africa. Since this is quite a cumbersome task for someone on safari, we suggest that you process all legal marriage documents in your home country and enjoy your ceremony on safari in a more traditional way.
